BackgroundThe company had grown fast and organically over 3 years. Many different teams had been using the company’s AWS account for their infrastructure requirements. As there was no central control of the AWS account and resources the solutions built often did not align with any standards or best practices. Goals:<ul><li>To migrate existing infrastructure to infrastructure as code.</li><li>Hire 2 infrastructure engineers to support and maintain infrastructure.</li></ul> Tech Stack<ul><li>Terraform – Infrastructure as code</li><li>Ansible – Configuration as code</li><li>AWS Secrets manager – Secure storage of secrets.</li><li>Jenkins – CI/CD tool</li><li>Github Actions - CD tool</li></ul> Challenges:<ul><li>Managing the relationship with external teams when changing their underlying infrastructure. </li><li>Working with external sprint teams can lead to a delay in rolling out new IaC as work need to align with sprint team priorities. </li></ul>
